Sam French

Chief Engineer

Sam French is the Chief Engineer at BKV Corporation. With 37 years of experience and deep industry expertise in a wide variety of reservoirs throughout North America, Sam oversees reservoir engineering, production engineering and stimulation design for BKV’s Barnett and Marcellus assets.

Prior to BKV, Sam was a Senior Reservoir Engineer in Technical and Field Development Planning for BP L48 / BPX Energy, focusing on the Woodford, Utica, Eagle Ford and Mancos shale gas plays. Throughout his career, Sam has served in various senior reservoir engineering and Team Lead roles with ARCO Alaska, ConocoPhillips Alaska and BP Alaska. He worked as a Reservoir Engineer with Cawley, Gillespie and Associates, a petroleum consulting firm, and started his career as a Production Engineer with ARCO Oil and Gas Company.

Sam received a BS with Honors in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Wyoming and is a licensed professional engineer in the states of Texas and Alaska. He served as the Chairman of the SPE/ICoTA Refracturing Committee from 2016 to 2018.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys fly fishing and exploring the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming.
